Suonatore di Liuto un olio su tela (94x119 cm) di Caravaggio, opera giovanile in cui l’artista rivela gi la sua missione: trasmettere la realt e la solidit del mondo. Il giovane vestito con una camicia bianca che risalta chiaramente sullo sfondo scuro mentre la luce laterale nitida e le ombre cadenti conferiscono agli oggetti un volume e un peso quasi tangibili. Caravaggio era interessato all'unicit del mondo circostante, e ci si pu notare sia nelle caratteristiche peculiari del volto del giovane sia negli oggetti che compongono la natura morta: la pera danneggiata, la crepa nel liuto, le pagine spiegazzate del musica. Anche la melodia scritta su quelle pagine reale: si tratta di un madrigale di Jacques Arcadelt allora molto in voga: "Sai che ti amo".
The Lute-Player is an oil on canvas painting (94x119 cm) of Caravaggio, dating to 1595-1596 and housed at the Hermitage #Museum, Saint Petersburg. It is an early work by Caravaggio, who sought above all to convey the reality and solidity of the surrounding world. The figure of a young boy is dressed in a white shirt that stands out clearly against the dark background. The sharp sidelighting and the falling shadows give the objects an almost tangible volume and weight. Caravaggio was interested in the uniqueness of the surrounding world, and there are markedly individual features not only in the youth's face but also in the objects which make up the still life: the damaged pear, the crack in the lute, the crumpled pages of the music. The melody written on those pages is that of a then fashionable song by Jacques Arcadelt, "You know that I love you".
